Every once in a while a band comes along that makes you realize how very narrow the parameters of music are. Alec K. Redfearn & The Eyesores are one such band, droning and grinding and polka-ing through dark, experimental territories rooted as much in gypsy songs as they are in French prog and free-jazz. Their 7th and most widely approachable album, ‘Sister Death‘, explores the mysteries of life, death, love, loss, creation and destruction, subjects that have informed Redfearn’s songwriting since the early 90’s. The Eyesores are one of the great uncategorizable, creative ensembles of our time, crafting a music that is distinctly theirs alone.
